Nikos Vaidakis, Assoc. Professor of Psychiatry of the University of Athens, completed his studies at the Medical School of the University of Athens (Medical Degree, Neurology-Psychiatry specialty, PhD dissertation) and in 1975 he was appointed at the Psychiatric Clinic of Aiginiteio Hospital as a University Assistant. His post-graduate studies were on behavioural psychotherapy at Warneford Ηospital in Oxford, where he specialized for two years in the treatment of psychosexual disorders. As of 1997 he has been Associate Professor at the Psychiatric Clinic. In 1980 he established the outpatient department for psychosexual disorders, which became independent and moved to separate premises in 1986; he still works to date as the Psychotherapy Centre of Aiginiteio Hospital. He has authored 20 international publications, 48 published abstracts of announcements at international conferences, 35 publications in Greek journals, 34 chapters in Greek textbooks, 56 published abstracts of announcements at Greek conferences and has made 104 announcements at Greek conferences. The majority of these publications and announcements concern sexual behaviour topics. He has organized 7 further training seminars on various topics related to sexual behaviour and, recently, the first two-year post-graduate training seminar in Greece on ‘Treating Psychosexual Disorders’; this was co-organised by the Research University Institute of Mental Health (EPIPsY and the 1st University Psychiatric Clinic (2007-2009). He has authored a book titled ‘Human Sexual Behaviour’, BETA Publications, Athens, 2005 (360 pages).
