She is a graduate of the Biology Department of the Exact Sciences Dpt of the University of Athens. She completed her post-graduate studies in Biotechnology at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom, as a Scholar of the European Social Foundation (ESF) (1989-1990). She was also a scholar of the Human Capital and Mobility Programme of the European Union; she completed her Doctorate thesis on Molecular Biology at Piere et Marie Curie University of Paris (1991-1995). She worked as a researcher at the University of Surrey and John Innes Centre in the United Kingdom, as well as at the Agricultural University of Athens. Since 1997, as scientific editor for “To Vima” newspaper (responsible for biology and medicine topics), she has been awarded a Palm medal by the French Academy, in recognition of her educational journalistic work and the ACE (Awarding Cancer Enlightenment) Reporter Award by the European Oncology School.
