He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Athens in 1972. After completing his residency program at the Urology Clinic of 'Laikon' Hospital of Athens and the St. Georg Academic Hospital in Hamburg, Germany (affiliated with the University of Hamburg), he received his Urology specialty title in 1990. He received further education at the Urology Department of Krefeld Academic Hospital (affiliated with the University of Dusseldorf) in Germany (1980-1) and at the Urology Department of Philipps University in Marburg, Germany (1993). In 1973, he received his PhD from the University of Athens and in 1992 he was proclaimed Fellow of the European Board of Urology (he ranked 1st in the whole of Europe). He serves as a reviewer of papers for international and Greek journals. He has authored over 120 papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and 85 papers published in Greek journals. He published the book 'Modern Urology' in 2006. From December 1985 to January 1997, he served as a member of the Teaching & Scientific Staff of the Medical School of the University of Patras and has been a Regular Professor of Urology at the University of Thessaly and Director of the Urology Clinic of the University Hospital of Larissa since February 1998.
