He was born in Patras in 1968. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras, where he also completed his PhD on the molecular biology of prostate cancer (1999). He specialized in Urology at the University Hospital of Patras (1999) and then worked as a specialized Urologist at Chios General Hospital and at 401 General Military Hospital of Athens. In 1999 he received a scholarship on the European Urological Scholarship Programme for further training (Clinical Fellowship) in Paediatric Urology – Congenital Urogenital Abnormalities at Wessex Centre for Paediatric Surgery, Department of Paediatric Urology, Southampton University Hospital, Southampton, U.K. In 2000 he was awarded a scholarship by the European Society for Paediatric Urology for further clinical training in Paediatric Urology (Clinical Fellowship) at Sophia’s Children Hospital, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. In 2003 he was elected as a Lecturer at the Anatomy Laboratory of the University of Patras, where he is still serving as a tenured As. Professor. He is the Scientific Director of the Urology Dpt. of ‘Olympion’ General Clinic. His research interests focus on the molecular biology of prostate cancer, congenital lower urogenital abnormalities, the anatomy and functional disorders of the pelvic floor and infertility. He is a member of the teaching staff at Basic Medical Sciences Post-Graduate Courses and he is responsible for the subject of Αnatomy at the European Course on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics of the Dpt of Medical Physics of the University of Patras. He is a member of several scientific societies and a Board Member of the World Federation of Societies for Paediatric Urology (WOFSPU). His publications in international journals have received more than 400 citations and he has participated as a guest speaker in numerous conferences and scientific events.
